Location: District Hall Boston, 75 Northern Ave, Boston, MA

Registration is now closed!

Join the RCD Nexus team for this one-day workshop and networking event just for research computing and data (RCD) professionals.

The event takes place at District Hall Boston and its onsite restaurant, Gather — a beautiful, modern venue with views of Boston Harbor.

Choose from one of two tracks:

Track 1: Defining an RCD Capabilities Model Essentials version:

Smaller institutions and emerging RCD programs often find the existing RCD Capabilities Model a bit overwhelming, and/or lack the resources to complete that level of assessment. The RCD CM working group is working to develop an Essentials version of the RCD Capabilities Model to better meet the needs of these smaller institutions and emerging RCD programs. Building on the input from focus groups this spring, the RCD Essentials Model workshop will bring together interested stakeholders to draft an initial version of an assessment tool for review with the community.

Track 2: Student Workforce Programs & Staff Onboarding and Workforce Development Practices

Recruiting, developing and retaining a diverse and inclusive workforce of RCD professionals and student employees is challenging – In this workshop we aim to bring together RCD managers and professionals to share leading and distinct practices for attracting, onboarding, training and developing RCD professionals and student employees. An expected product will synthesize what we learn to develop a guide to RCD managers in structuring effective recruiting, onboarding, training and workforce development practices, all of which is key to retaining quality staff.
